January 31 - Genesis 41:17-42:17, Matthew 13:24-46, Psalm 18:1-15, PRoverbs 4:1-6

Genesis 41:17-42:17

  • Again, how is God still speaking today?  Do you feel God is still speaking in new ways today?  Why or why not?
  • Joseph - interpreted as his faithfulness is rewarded
  • How do you feel about what Joseph is starting to do here with his brothers?

Matthew 13:24-46

  • Weeds and wheat - How do we view others and trust in how God works?
  • Kingdom Parable Section - kingdom is compared to that which is tiny, unnoticed, yet transformative
  • Here is one of the few places that we get an explation from Jesus about a parable
  • And still more Kingdom parables with more to come

Psalm 18:1-15, Proverbs 4:1-6

  • Psalm 18:1-15 - First, I'd encourage you to read the whole of the Psalm and not just this part.  There is a flow to the whole that is best seen when reading ti as a whole.  This is the longest Psalm yet and notice the context that is described with it.  Something else to note - feels a bit like a nice tie with the parables above from Matthew - human so small, but God so big.
  • Proverbs 4:1-6 - Again, wisdom is an ideal to strive for.  How would you define wisdom or Wisdom?
