January 15 - Gen 8:1-10:32, Matthew 4:12-25, Psalm 4, Proverbs 1:20-23

Genesis 8:1-10:32

  • What this story spoke to me was about the times when I felt like I was in the midst of a flood and how much of a gift it became when it felt llike the waters were receding or had receded.  Thinking back of the feeling of the figurative sun on my face, the "ahhhh" of being able to be released.  Hope.
  • Rainbow - what do I think about when I see one today?  God's covenant or pulling out my camera?  (hopefully both)
  • Then things go sideways again...sigh
  • Genealogy - this is one of the places that is proof that the flood wasn't a "cover the earth" type of thing.  How else did the descendants find partners and then have children?

Matthew 4:12-25

  • Accidentally read too far yesterday...looking just today at the later part of this reading...thnking back to when. I was part of a movement.  When there were just people gathering and gathering and gathering and feeling like I was part of something far bigger than myself.  Powerful

Psalm 4 and Proverbs 1:20-23

  • Psalm 4 - That last verse.... both that I will lie down and sleep in peace.  How often do I feel restless at either of those times?  When I lie down / when I am trying to sleep?  How good does it feel when those times come that I do feel a peace that allows me to rest and restore and feel God's presence?
  • Proverbs 1:20-23 - Notice that wisdom is personified here as a woman!  Moving, active, searching.  Introduction video to proverbs speaks to this.  But this is another place that speaks to the multitude that is God.  Bigger than we can imagine / grasp.
