10/7 Goode Thoughts - Thank you's
Happy Tuesday friends! This is a bit earlier in the week but by the time you read this on Tuesday, I will either be in the air or will have (hopefully) arrived in New Jersey for the Presbyterian Church Growth Network conference! It is the first gathering of a new group of PCUSA pastors who want to be intentional about church growth using lots of energy, intelligence, imagination, and love. I'll be there Tuesday through Thursday and will be back late on Thursday evening. I'm excited for it and excited for what I'll be receiving from this time! And most of all I look forward to sharing it with you all! So that's where I'll be most of this week! In the meantime...a big thank you from me and from our friends from Pillar of Truth Church...
Sharing Bread on World Communion Sunday
I have two thank yous here. One from me and one from Tesfaye Tohe on behalf of Pillar of Truth Church.
First from me. I put out a really last minute request on Wednesday and then Thursday for loaves of bread to be brought on Sunday and you all DELIVERED! First, I believe it was folks from PRP who brought over 4 BIG baskets that we used to collect the bread and we filled nearly all of them! It was beautiful! It was a wonderful message of sharing and breaking bread with our Ethiopian sisters and brothers from Pillar of Truth Church of how we are all a part of the One New Humanity that Paul writes about in Ephesians. It was such a joy to deliver the bread to them during their service and then I was invited to share both a blessing and a prayer with their community. I also was blessed to be able to receive the last half of their pastor's message and had a quiet translation going on from a brother next to me. It was beautiful!
And then I received this from one of their leaders, Tesfaye Tohe...
Thank you for your visit and for joining our service yesterday with the special bread sharing on Communion Sunday. It was truly a meaningful time and message, reflecting the love of God that transcends walls, colors, language, and all divisions of this world. We deeply appreciate this beautiful expression of love from our beloved brothers and sisters at ResoundingJoy church.
Please extend our heartfelt thanks and love to your congregation.
Friends, this is one example of what World Communion Sunday is all about. Thank you for the ways in which you helped to share this and live it out in worship on Sunday!

Presbyterian Peace and Global Witness Offering

It is also not too late to continue our recognition and celebration of World Communion Sunday by giving an additional gift for the PCUSA Peace and Global Witness Offering. This offering enables the church to promote the Peace of Christ by addressing systems of conflict and injustice across the world. Through the Peace & Global Witness Offering, congregations are encouraged and equipped to find and address the anxiety and discord that is prevalent throughout this broken and sinful world. For more information, click here.
If you would like to contribute, you can send an offering to the church office or give online to the Peace and Global Witness fund on our website/app. The website link is here.
Grace, Peace, Love, Hope, and Joy,
