This Weekend, Serving, and ITS SPOOKY SEASON
A Special Guest this Sunday - Rev. Dr. Chip Hardwick!
So, this Sunday you will have the opportunity to hear a sermon from one of the finest preachers I know AND someone who has LOTS of good stories about me. Our guest preacher this Sunday is Rev. Dr. Charles "Chip" Hardwick, who happens to be the Executive for the Synod of the Covenant (of which we are a part).
I have known Chip since quite literally the first day I stepped on the Princeton Seminary campus in 1996. Chip was one of my next door neighbors in my first year dorm (on the other side was a guy named Skip, so I was between a Chip and a Skip). Chip and I have also been a part of the same annual pastors group since we graduated in 1999. He has served in several different congregations and currently serves as the Executive for our Synod.
Chip also has a PhD in homiletics (aka preaching) and his focus was on how to help pastors continue to grow in their preaching skills in the years after they graduate seminary. In fact, Chip and I worked together for nearly a year in 2016 in helping me grow in my preaching skills.
I am so excited for you to get to meet Chip this weekend and be blessed by possibly the finest sermon you'll hear all year.

Practical Grace Packing - Friday, October 16
Our next serving day for the Practical Grace non-food pantry is Saturday, October 17, but we are in need of some additional helpers to help pack the bags and boxes that are distributed. This will take place on Friday, October 16 in the morning and is usually wrapped up by 1pm. Contact the church office and we'll get you connected!
Help Thanks Wow - Praying Together
We had our first day of small groups digging into Help Thanks Wow yesterday at 12 and at 7pm. We will be meeting again this coming Thursday and all are invited (Even if you haven't read the book). Join us!
Also, join us for the prayer time each Sunday morning from 9:30-9:50 to pray for the mission and ministries of the church.
As Anne Lamott writes about prayer... "And as it turns out, if one person is praying for you, buckle up. Things can happen."
